Our client discovered a fallen 60-foot queen palm tree had crushed his car outside his San Diego home in January 2010. He called a friend for a ride to work. As our client put his briefcase inside the car’s trunk a second queen palm collapsed and struck him. The nearly two-ton tree crushed his legs leaving him a paraplegic. Our client sued the city of San Diego for failing to maintain the trees, creating a dangerous condition of public property. The jury awarded him $7.6 million for damages.
