Failure to Provide Adequate Care: $3.5 Million Settlement
In the case of one woman we represented, the birth of her fourth child should have been a joyous occasion. Instead the treatment she received at a county-run medical center fell well below the standard of care and resulted in tragedy. Shortly after delivery in 2008, our client complained of having a severe headache. The medical staff failed to recognize this as a serious condition and discharged the patient the next day. When the new mother returned home she had a stroke and consequently suffered severe brain damage. Balaban Spielberger sued Los Angeles County on the family’s behalf and reached a settlement of $3.5 million.
