Balaban | Spielberger Recognized Among Daily Journal’s Top Verdicts of 2022

Co-lead trial attorney Daniel Balaban was recently recognized by the Los Angeles Daily Journal among their Top Verdicts of 2022 list for the $5 million jury verdict he helped secure in a federal civil rights case involving excessive force by law enforcement. The lawsuit stemmed from a 2014 incident that resulted in our client, Mickail Myles, being beaten by a Sheriff’s deputy and bit by a K-9 while handcuffed and restrained by two other Sheriff’s deputies. The trial focused on the Sheriff’s Department’s failure to investigate a pattern and practice of excessive force by one of the Sheriff’s deputy involved. Read the full DJ profile below.
