$18.6 Million Jury Verdict: Defective Product, Mass Tort Case Involving Toxic Uniforms
Our trial team, led by lead trial attorney Daniel Balaban, recently secured an $18.6 million jury verdict on behalf of five flight attendants who sued the uniform manufacturer, Twin Hill. This is the second bellwether trial involving current and former American Airlines employees who suffered serious health issues after wearing toxic uniforms.
The toxic uniforms, worn by tens of thousands of airline workers starting in 2016, prompted widespread reports of adverse reactions shortly after their rollout. The litigation has since exposed dangerous chemical exposure levels in garments that should never have been approved for use in the airline industry.
This second plaintiff victory builds on the firm’s success in the first bellwether trial, which earned recognition as a 2023 Top Verdict for Impact by the Daily Journal. In the first trial, Balaban and the team won nearly $1.1 million for four flight attendants similarly harmed by the defective uniforms. With over 400 additional plaintiffs awaiting trial, the most recent result marks a pivotal moment in the litigation and underscores Balaban | Spielberger’s courtroom prowess and commitment to workplace safety and corporate accountability.
